I cannot believe I have to say this but you HAVE to learn about plants on a scientific level if you use herbs in spell crafting. It’s for SAFETY reasons. You CANNOT BURN CERTAIN HERBS and you cannot touch or consume certain herbs. You NEED to know this for every herb you use- it’s not a pick and choose thing you guys it’s SAFETY. ESPECIALLY to my chronically ill witches and practitioners like myself.
Please stop throwing herbs into a fire bc you saw some tiktok witch do it. PLEASE.
Seriously. Once I saw a tiktok that with a cute little New Moon Spell™ which involved dressing a candle with HEMLOCK.
Y'know, that very witchy #aesthetic sounding plant to create the mood, which can easily kill you just from handling it with your bare hands let alone BURNING it INDOORS to release highly toxic gas into your home. Fortunately on Tumblr, people jumped onto that post and shut it down almost immediately, but someone new without a lot of plant knowledge could reasonably have just seen the spell, thought hemlock really captures the feel of witchcraft they’re looking for (if they’ve heard its toxic, it’s fine as long as they don’t consume it, right? Right?) and later caused SERIOUS injury.
Thats an extreme example, but it’s a real one. Know your dang plants.
I just want to share some of my tips, as someone who has been practicing witchcraft for almost 20 years, for working with fire (as it relates to safety):
🔥 Buy a cauldron : I use mine for burning herbs, incense, candles, paper, fabric etc. I have one with just salt in it that I use to burn my small tapered candles and incense. It’s one of the most useful tools in my practice.
“Can Salt Burn? No, salt does not burn. It can melt at an extremely high temperature (800°C/1472°F), but this is unlikely to happen in everyday surroundings. Salt is made up of sodium and chloride, which come together to form a highly reactive bond.”
🔥 Don’t burn candles for more than 4 hours : Even if you’re in the room the entire time, it’s recommended that you don’t burn a candle for longer than 4 hours.
“If you burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, carbon will collect on the wick, and your wick will begin to “mushroom.” This can cause the wick to become unstable, the flame to get too large, your candle to smoke, and soot to be released into the air and around your candle container.”
🔥 When burning things like paper, in your cauldron, fill the bottom with sand first : I’ve found that it helps avoid any flames from getting too high or out of control.
“Because its primary constituent is silica (SiO2), which is already oxidized, sand cannot burn. This is why it works as an effective firefighting method, which can extinguish fires by cutting off the oxygen supply and absorbing flammable liquids.”
🔥 Make sure that you triple check that nothing in the immediate area of any open flame is combustible or flammable : This means don’t burn something on a plate that’s sitting on an alter cloth lol. Or don’t spray anything into the air (like perfume or air freshener) around an open flame.
Please take everything I say at face value, do your own research on the topics I’ve presented. What works for me may not work for you. You can substitute or subtract pretty much anything as long as it’s not a major component in a spell. Make sure you are prepared fully before doing some of the ones I’ve listed and educate yourself on the ways backfiring presents itself. If you try any of these lmk I’d love to hear it!
I created this spell for when I want to feel and radiate the energy of a fierce, magnetic, gorgeous, powerful and radiant siren. This is personally useful for when one experiences heavy stress, low self esteem, elevated anxiety, wants to impress, or seeks to feel their like best self.
A Glamour is a beam of energy cast around a being that can change the energy of them, or how that energy is perceived and felt by others. A Glamour can be used to attract or repel certain types of people or even particular individuals.
Cleanse your bathroom, particularly the bathtub, before even starting this spell. Any energetic residue will disorient the charming energy we are emitting.
Light the candle beside your the bathtub and place the crystals around you. Say or think the Incantation below with full focus and your complete true intention.
Add the aforementioned foliage to a sachet and start the faucet. Once running, submerge the Sachet in the water whilst mixing it in.
Finally, Step into the bathtub and soak in the energies of the spell and the allure of a siren. Happy Casting and remember you always were and always will be absolutely beautiful!
3 Spoonfulâs of Dried Hibiscus 3 Spoonfulâs of Dried Jasmine 3 Spoonfulâs of Himalayan Pink Salt (Preferably Tumbled) Amethyst (Preferably Tumbled) Smoky Quartz
Incantation:
âSacred Salt of the Sea, Please Bestow charm to me May the roaring tides encourage me to always be free May the clarity of the deep blue always help me see The Sirenâs allure resides and grows deep within meâ
There are many interpretations to auras, so do take the time to research other studies. In this post weâll be going by the definition of Aura being the energetic field that is present in every living being, and is able to be transferred through energy to inanimate objects.
â The importance of Aura in Witchcraft
In Kilnerâs book, The Human Aura, he conducts a number of observational studies that manage to identify a change in Aura, those mostly happening in relation to how healthy the observed subject was. As such, we can see that the Aura changes according to certain specifics, and considering itâs energic capacity, it is also possible to control and manipulate. Enter energy work â an incredible ally to any witch that wants spells done, barriers up and protection. So, any witch will benefit greatly from indulging in sensing and/or seeing Auras, at least their own.
â What are these tips for?
Iâll pass on 4 easy techniques that, when practiced, make it possible for Clairvoyance towards Aura identification to be developed. Always do these when you are not rushed and in a calm local where you can concentrate.
If youâre a beginner, youâll most likely see a luminous mist â donât worry, with practice youâll begin seeing more details such as consistency, texture, layers and color.
⢠TIP 1: Finger Technique
- Put your index fingers close to another, distance your hands as much as possible from your eyes, so that the line of focus is clear so as to not make your eyes go crossed. Ideally you should have your hands poised in front of a sterile background, without itens, shadows or anything that can interfere with your vision.
- Focus your sight on the space between your fingers and soon youâll see a bright aura surrounding your fingers and create a bridge in the space between them.
- With time, start distancing your fingers and pay attention to the look of the aura, itâs characteristics, feeling and so on. Play with it!
⢠TIP 2: Paper Technique
- Get a blank, white paper and put your hand on top of it.
- Make a little dot on the paper, with a pen, on top of your middle finger. That dot will be the reference point so you can visualize your aura.
- Continue with your hand on the paper and focus your gaze on the dot â at a comfortable distance so your eyes donât cross. Soon youâll be able to see your aura.
⢠TIP 3: Legs Technique
- Lay down on the ground or on your bed, close to a wall. Youâll want the lights to be totally off or partially on.
- Put your legs up against the wall, relax and focus on them â remember to not let your eyes cross and to have a relatively clean wall so that your sight doesnât have interferences.
- Soon youâll begin to see your aura around your legs â get a closer look, between your toes and between the space of your legs. Analyze it. Thatâs your aura and you should get acquainted with it!
⢠TIP 4: Visualizing the Whole Aura
- Stay in front of a mirror (preferably one where you can see your whole body) at a distance of a meter or a meter and a half.
- Start focusing on a sole point, the Top of the Head is a good place to start. The less stuff on your background the easier itâll be to focus.
A kiss is a very powerful thing, even in fairytales and lore of the past the power of kisses are told of (true love’s kiss, siren/mermaid kiss, first kiss, etc). a kiss can be a powerful tool for any witch. Here are a few suggestions for using kisses and the power they hold.
Use a kiss to charge objects: crystals, tarot cards, charms, amulets, etc etc. Use it to send your emotions and energy into the object. Love is a good emotion, but any positive energies you wish to charge the object with can be transferred this way. Adding your love to something can really give it a boost as well! Especially if it is for another to use. (Note: do not kiss toxic stones please! Be safe and smart)
Spell Sealing: Use a kiss to magically seal spells such as jar and bottle spells or use it to strengthen a (cooled!) wax seal. Imagine placing the kiss its like placing an invisible seal upon it, stamping in energy to lock th spell inside.
For Air and Wind spells: For all of my fellow witches who use air and wind spells, blowing a kiss after a chant or spell to summon a wind in the direction you wish it to blow is a good way to guide the wind but also show it positive reinforcement. Use it to show your gratitude for the wind’s cooperation. It is best for gentler wind spells.
Glamour and Beauty spells: Kiss the mirror after a beauty or glamour spell. Thank the mirror for its aid and seal any negativity into it. It also a wonderful way to reflect love back at yourself!
Love Spells: Kisses are great for powering up love spells! Kiss a candle before lighting it (careful if you are using essential oils be sure not to kiss where they are), kiss the written name of the one you desire, kiss a charm or amulet to help bring love into your life, and finally blow a kiss when finishing the the spell to close it.
Kitchen Magic: blow a kiss to finish a dish (don’t be too close though, don’t want to spread germs) to put a final charge of love into it before serving it to others. Good for with tea and coffee spells too!
Public Magic: Want to remain discrete while casting a spell in public? Blow a kiss! Its much subtler than pointing or hand motions, especially if it is a positive spell you are casting on another or a friend but it is also good for curses, either way its a wonderful way to send your intentions. Whisper the words or chant needed for the spell (if any) under your breath, imagine them them gathering in an orb of energy at your lips as you do so. Then do a subtle kiss motion on your lips (no hands and no ‘fish lips’, you are trying to be subtle). Then release the energy and words towards the target with a gentle blow of breath, sending the ball of energy in that direction.
Mourning/Remembrance Rituals: Ending such a ritual with a blown kiss to close it can help release your feelings in a positive manner and close the ritual with love and sincerity.
Thanking tools: As someone who uses tarot cards and many other divination tools, I like to place gentle kisses to the sides of the decks after using them to help bond with them. To show them my gratitude for assisting me in not only readings but also in my spell work. I also before days where I know i will be doing a lot of divination work, I will kiss them to help charge them up (as said above). It is an excellent way to bond with your tools!
